Richmond Friends of Recreation Board member. Richmond native and resident having learned to swim in the Richmond Municipal Natatorium and swam on the Richmond Union High School swim team. I helped raise money for the Save the Plunge Trust’s challenge to match a $500,000 grant to restore it prior to its reopening in August 2010. Past President of Pt Richmond Business Association which helped develop and raise funds for the Indian Statue Park. Community activities included the yearly Valentine Making Contest and Easter Egg and Coloring Contest. Continue helping with the annual Holiday Tree Lighting event on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Past Board Member of the Masquers Playhouse and acted as fundraiser for the purchase of the theater building and off-site warehouse. Present project is developing a program where every child learns to swim by the third-grade. Richmond children have 32 miles of shoreline on the San Pablo and San Francisco Bay. Swimming opens opportunities for enjoying recreational swimming and water activities such as fishing, boating, and surfing as examples.
